The Loop

THE LOOP

The inaugural Loop ride took place on Saturday 9 July in mixed weather conditions.  This followed a 108 mile circuit of Wester Ross based on the start/finish hospitality facilities at the Garve Hotel.  Over 30 cyclists successfully negotiated the course out via Gairloch and Dundonnell within the nine hour cut-off time.  Rider feedback has been excellent and it hoped that the event will now become an annual fixture.  The organising team would like to thank all of the volunteer helpers and en route venues which helped make the day a resounding success.

Rider times for the Loop can be seen by following the link below.

“Just a quick note to express my thanks for organising The Loop on Saturday.  It was by far the toughest thing I’ve ever done (after only a year on a road bike) but the whole day was excellent.   Great organisation and a really excellent crew running the day, I’m sure once word gets around you will have a far bigger field next year.”

“We thoroughly enjoyed the event - the scenery was absolutely stunning, the marshals and feed stations well stocked and very well supported.  Shame about the weather in July but - hey - Scotland in Summer!  It would be great to see this event grow as it's a stunning part of the world and race HQ at the Garve Hotel was excellent.  Sandwiches and soup aplenty at the finish was incredibly well appreciated and very tasty indeed - very impressed with that.  I shall certainly be advertising this event and rallying up support - and will be back next year.  Looking forward to Culloden.”

“Thank you, aye an excellent event.  Superb route, feed stations (more than ample), Garve hotel an excellent start venue.”

“I would like to say a big thank you, to you and your team for the Loop today.  They made it really enjoyable with their support and with great views round the west coast.  I really enjoyed it and look forward to it next year as well doing the Culloden Big Challenge this year.”

“That was a great day out and an awesome route, even despite the weather at times.  My pal and I both thought that was far more enjoyable than the likes of the Etapes Caledonia and Loch Ness  There was so much more teamwork and camaraderie than I'm used to on sportives.  Thanks so much for putting on such a great day out for us.”
